Tallaght Welfare Society work to improve the lives of local people, as an agent of change, involving voluntary and community action, through direct and supported service provision.

Our Core Values

TWS has always had an anti-poverty focus and have worked tirelessly in promoting the concept of partnership and cooperation, across all sectors, in tackling anti-poverty issues. The ethos of TWS encapsulates a self-help model based on a philosophy of personal and community development, encompassing the following:-

Every individual has the right to be treated with respect and without discrimination.
Every individual has the right to be free from poverty and social injustice.
Every individual has the right to work and to receive an education.
Everyone should have the right to identify their own needs and to participate in the work for change, on their own behalf, and on behalf of their community.
All members of society should be given the opportunity to embrace life on a level playing field.

Our Objectives

The main objectives of TWS are:

To provide Information to the Community.
To be a catalyst in community development.
To assist and support other voluntary organizations.
To liaise with Local Authorities and State Agencies.
To be alert to the needs and requirements of our communities, and bring their issues to the attention of the relevant state departments and its agencies.
To act as a lobbyist on issues of concern.
To develop new actions or groups, to address the needs / gaps in service provision.
To support families in Tallaght to enable them to avail of opportunities in training, education and employment.
To create employment and training opportunities for local people.
To facilitate the personal and professional development of the TWS (and subsideries) staff.
